It will probably not be shouted enough, but that cannot be denied Songs of conquest is one of the best new strategy games in recent years. Scaling up the kind of action that you would find in games such as Heroes of Might and Magic has attracted a surprisingly large and loyal supporters – publisher Coffee Stain says that more than 600,000 units have now been shifted, which is extremely impressive. Songs of Conquest would like to continue to benefit from the interest and delivering new content to players, and after launching its first DLC at the end of last year, it is now revealed what will be in its second expansion. The highlight is a brand new faction, which is actually a interconnected beehorf of conscious trees.
While Civilization 7 has been mashed and has set its stall in the fight to become the best new strategy game of this year, that is not to drop out songs of conquest to bring big new updates to his Pixel Fantasy World. The Vanir extension in December added the faction of the same name of Viking-inspired warriors to the game, so that the total number of factions was brought to five. Number six will arrive in the Roots DLC later this year, and again, the faction has the same name as the expansion itself.
The roots are described as “an old, conscious colony of flora, fungus and the bones of lost heroes”, and although of course there are a variety of different unit types to fight, roots do not consider themselves as individuals. Instead, these pixelated plants all share the same “collective consciousness” that encourages them to expand their dark forest area.

Units that are known as tree mothers lead this shared goal, but even conscious plants have limitations – so they re -inimize fallen soldiers to act as ships that can speak for them and perform the actions that they cannot.
It is a freaky starting point, and the roots’ background story will be investigated on two brand new challenge cards in addition to five new conquest as well. It is almost the same amount of content that is offered in the first DLC, so it seems that developer Lavapotion immediately landed the correct formula for the extensions of songs or conquest.
However, there will be one important difference this time. Lavapotion says that the manual regional prices for the Roots DLC will set after the recommended prices of Steam caused a fairly broad inequality in how many people in certain regions paid. The studio says that this was not intentional and “an honest mistake” was that it will no longer make if Roots goes live.
The Roots DLC for Songs of Conquest is planned to arrive in the summer of 2025. Go here for more information about the announcement post of Lavapotion.
