Capcom’s unveiling from Monster Hunter Wilds’ Rompopolo Beastie received a meeting with comments from fans that the oily brutal Wyvern was so disturbing that they wanted to hunt out. Then director Yuya Tokuda says that you are mean and that many people find the slimy freak ‘cute’, thank you very much.
Given the chance of talking to Tokuda recently, we ask if the reaction means that Capcom has done its job – Monster Hunter is a series about hunting samples, and that. Given his right to answer, Tokuda says for sure, but the reaction is more varied than that.
“There are people who find rompopolo cute, I just want to say it!” he says. “Because we have seen all the comments, and for every person who wants to eradicate it as soon as the game comes out, there are enough people who think it is cool or cute, and people even attract cute fanart.
“The designers are really happy to see that – I mean, they think it’s cool and cute. So there is a different reaction. I think a monster is such a unique design compared to games from the past that it already This discussion is absolutely at different levels, you could say that this is a success in terms of our design goals!
In all honesty for the modest rompopolo, it is not the only excellent new freak we get in Monster Hunter Wilds. Only the other month we looked again at an octopus that can burn in flames. Needless to say that Tokuda is “incredibly proud”.
Monster Hunter Wilds is out on February 28 and we can’t wait.
Monster Hunter Wilds’s end game bosses may be a lot harder than you are used to, because the developers do not want you to “browse” just because you have the right gear.
