The New York Mets have largely tried to retain the most important free agents who played important factors in the team of the team last season.
Those important pieces that the Mets could keep, start from pitcher Sean Manaaea, designated Hitter/Outfielder Jesse Winker, Reliever Ryne Stanek and, of course, talent of own talent Pete Alonso. However, there are two remaining free agents who are still on the open market that the Mets do not expect to return.

One of them is veteran DH JD Martinez, who drew New York the last season for a one -year -old deal, just a few weeks before the start of the regular season. With the 37-year-old still on the Open Markt and the Mets planned to start their first spring training matches this week, could this NL Central team be a realistic fit for the former starting DH of the Amazins?
In an article of 18 February for Bleacher report, Zachary D. Rymer predicted that the Cincinnati Reds Martinez would sign, with the hope that he could be the veteran Power Bat who needs their line -up to return to the late season.
“Yes, he is older. And yes, he has passed a rough finish until 2024. Yet he remained able to put a shock in the ball, in the 94th percentile for his barrel percentage,” Rymer wrote.
“The Reds are better positioned than most teams to use the remaining power of Martinez, and that has everything to do with Great American Ball Park. It is one of the Great Power Paradises in MLB.”
Martinez had an overwhelming season in his lonely year in Flushing last season, Queens despite the beating of 33 home runs the year before with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Martinez only cut .235/.320/.406 with 16 home runs and 69 RBI in 120 regular seasonal competitions.

After having passed a brutal part in August and September with a combined stroke average of .225, the veteran saw his playing time decrease as the starting DH of the Mets. When the aforementioned wink was traded on July 28 to the Mets of the Washington Nationals, he quickly stuck himself as the most important DH of the team during the last weeks of the regular season and during the Play -Off run of the Mets.
Great American Ball Park, however, is known as a very Slagman-friendly Ballpark, one of the easiest stadiums to get home. Cincinnati needs in their line -up that is already dangerous.
