Given how this means that Montas still needs a whole spring training to rise after he has been completely healed, it is clear that he will miss a significant part of the start of the 2025 season of New York.
This left the Mets an intriguing decision. They could find someone within the organization to take the place of Montas in the start rotation or to look elsewhere, perhaps by trying to find a free agent.

In an article of 17 February, Jon Heyman of the New York Post brought who he believed as the perfect solution for this issue: Jose Quintana.
“Jose Quintana is a man from whom they all kept last year, and I can’t find out why they haven’t brought him back, or to be honestly why he doesn’t have a job. The Mets must consider this an opportunity,” ” Heyman wrote in the article.
It seems that the Mets would agree with Heyman’s sentiment, as Pat Ragazzo of On Si Wrote on X: “Source: Jose Quintana is very interested in reunion with Mets and would like to come back.”

Sources say that the Mets and the camp of Quintana have spoken, so the interest here is certainly mutual on both fronts, per ragazzo.
In December 2022, Quintana signed a two -year contract of $ 22 million with New York. While injuries quintana put off the season 2023 offside, he was a crucial part of the success of the Mets in 2024, with a record of 10-10 with a record 3.75 ERA and 135 strikeouts in 170.1 regular season nings.
He still did not sign this season and would certainly like to change very quickly. And to the appearance he is very happy to return to Queens.
