The four Final Fantasy Commander Decks for Magic: The Gathering has been unveiled and brings some of the most beloved heroes and villains of the series to the game.


Following the incredible success of the Lord of the Rings set, Magic: the meeting has raised the cross -overs with upcoming extensions, including a centered around the Marvel universe.

The Final Fantasy Crossover set launches on 13 June 2025. Wizards of the Coast revealed the concepts of four commander decks from the set to IGN, which confirms that some of the most popular entries in the series would be represented.

Magic the Gathering Final Fantasy 7 Sephiroth

The four commander -Decks are Revival Trance (red/white/black) based on Final Fantasy 6, Limit Break (red/green/white) based on Final Fantasy 7, Counter Blitz (green/white/blue) based on Final Fantasy 10, and Scions of Spellcraft (white, blue, black), based on Final Fantasy 14.

The commanders are Terra, Herald of Hope from Final Fantasy 6, Cloud, former soldier of Final Fantasy 7, Tidus, Yuna’s Guardian of Final Fantasy 10 and Y’Shtola, Night’s holy of Final Fantasy 14.

It is not shocking that Final Fantasy 7 and 14 get commander, given that they are the most popular entries in the franchise. Final Fantasy 10 is also a popular game and critical treasure.

Final Fantasy 6 is the most surprising, because it is popular with fans, but it was never a mainstream franchise colossus such as his brothers and sisters. Anyway, its presence is more than welcome and it deserves a place in the set.


Given how large commander covers are, it will be interesting to see which characters have made the cut for each set and which are left behind. There are some obvious attacks, such as the avalanche members and the Scions of the Sevth Dawn, but what other final fantasy heroes and villains will make their magic: the collect debut?
