New York Mets Owner Steve Cohen and Scott Boras, the notorious agent extraordinaire who represents Pete Alonso, came in at the end of January in something of a verbal spit.
“We made Pete an important offer,” Cohen said during an Amazin Day Fan Fest event on January 25 at Citi Field. Later he added: “Personally this was a tiring conversation and negotiation. I mean, Soto was heavy. This is worse. I don’t like the structures that are brought back to us. It is very asymmetrical to us. And I feel there Strong over.
“I don’t like the negotiations. I don’t like what we have been presented,” he added.

This led to a response from Boras, who said: βPete’s free-agent contract structure request is identical to the standards and practices of other clubs signed in the same way, players at qualifying/all-star level. Nothing else. Just determined of honesty standards, “in an article of January 25 Athletics Will Sammon.
Eventually these parties could come to terms, given that Alonso has again signed with the METS. During his performance of 17 February at the Meet at De Appel Podcast, Cohen, brought that this reunion was because Alonso got on the record in the final round of the negotiations of free agencies.
“Well, it was my idea,” Cohen said about the top conference between all the parties that finally ended with the re -signing of Alonso. “I just felt that the negotiation had continued for so long, I just wanted to make sure he heard from us how we felt about him. I just felt that he deserved that respect. He has long been a great meeting, He is a favorite with fans and I thought there was a real chance to sit with him and have a kind of haze.
“And so David and I flew to Tampa, had a great conversation for a few hours, and to be honest, Pete did all the talk,” Cohen added.
“Scott Boras was there and Scott said no freaking word all the time! And it was as if I turned to him, I am going,” I just want to be sure that … you still breathe there! ”

It was always said that Alonso wanted to stay with the Mets, and this last discussion – which was led by Alonso – eventually ensured that it took place.
